In 1981, owner Matthew Lamb was paralyzed from the waist down in a hunting accident. He spent 4 ½ months recuperating with the help of many in the Oklahoma City area medical community, including physicians, nurses, and several hospitals. With their help he was able to realize an almost complete recovery. During this time a need for additional communications options became apparent.
Patricia Risley, founder of Sooner Answer Service and
Matthew’s mother, worked for answering services while Matthew was
hospitalized, learning about the answering service business. Mrs. Risley was
approached by a group of physicians who “only received good answering
service when she was working.” They offered to help her start her own
service, she agreed and Sooner Answer Service was formed.
Working the phones was easy - a godsend, actually - for Matthew as he was
recovering. Putting all his time and effort into the answering service over
the years, Matthew has developed our clientele from a few physicians to
hundreds of medicals offices, many home health and hospice accounts as well
as many other Oklahoma businesses.
Sooner Answer Service’s “Edmond Call Center” is the culmination of all these
years of work and experience. Built from the ground up as a call center,
this new site has built-in infrastructure to support all phases of this
business: from fiber optic phone lines to a Startel Call Management Center
phone system with fully redundant servers, and a 100 kw natural gas
generator that automatically activates if power is lost. Edmond Call Center
has been built to bring the next generation in telephone answering service
to Oklahoma!
